Preface

Yoga is a science as well as the way of living. Yoga trains both the body Yoga is mind. It helps the individual to lead peaceful and spiritual life. In and the simple, easy affordable remediettechniques and methods for healthy body and mind. It is a very useful technique for achieving pures healthy self-awareness, devoid of all thoughts. The word yoga means to add’ or ‘to unite’ the individual consciousness with the universal add ciousness. It balances and harmonizes the body, mind and emotions. cons unification can be achieved through Ashtanga Yoga named as Yama Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Prathyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. They help the individual for the all-round development and maintain a good balance between physical and spiritual world. It maintains cordial relations among the emotional, mental and physical levels of the human beings and it leads to an understanding of the more subtle areas of existence. As there are many branches of yoga like Raja Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Mantra Yoga and Laya Yoga. The individual has to choose one among them which can be suitable for his/her personality.

Yoga is more than a physical exercise and has a meditative and spiritual core. Many studies have proved the therapeutic use of yoga for cancer, stress, asthma, schizophrenia and heart diseases. It may reduce risk factors and aid in a patient’s psychological healing process. The ultimate goal of Yoga is moksha (liberation), though the exact definition of what form this takes depends on the philosophical or theological system with which it is conjugated. I obtained a Diploma in Yoga from Sri Venkateswara Yogadhyana Kendram, Tirupati. I read a number of books on yoga during my stay on the campus. I referred to books on yoga then I thought that the books on yoga available in the market are not good enough to help the people to practice yoga themselves. I also thought of preparing a comprehensive book which is useful to the people, the result is at your hands.

The book offers a complete idea of ideal Yoga to be practiced by everyone in their daily life for physical and spiritual health. The book is divided into twenty two chapters which covers different kinds of yogas and asanas. The book covers the method, uses of asanas and precautions to be taken for better results. I thank my mentor, Sri S. Ramakrishna Reddy Garu, Principal, S.V.Y Kendram, Tirupati for going through my book and offering suitable suggestions for its improvement.
