English plays an important role in our everyday life. There is great utility of English in modern world. This is more so in view of the fact that advanced countries have opened their doors for recruiting technically qualified people from the third world countries. Only those who have the command over the English Language besides thorough knowledge of the technical subject concerned gets job. With the mushrooming of call centers in every nook and corner of our country, the importance of the knowledge of English is highlighted. The aspiring students, who want to go abroad for higher studies or wants to be employed in reputed organizations, know the urge for developing communication skills especially in English. These students attend spoken English classes to qualify in group discussions and interviews as they are not trained to speak, read and write English in schools.
Keeping these factors in view the B.Ed syllabus has been revised, so that the teachers with required competencies may be produced. This book is called ‘Pedagogy of Teaching English’ as it is meant for teachers who are new to profession, and are still picking up threads of teaching skills. With such learners in mind the book provides a comprehensive account of what a teacher of English in the making needs to know.
