PREFACE
Guidance has been going on in some form or the other since the time of human evolution. With the cycle of time, its form has also changed. It is also natural to happen because its nature depends on the social, cultural, religious, commercial and educational changes of the society. In the early period, the form of guidance was very simple because the life of human was simple and his requirements were limited. Gradually, the rise of the machine era caused a revolution in many areas of human life. As a result, the form of guidance also changed. There is a great need for guidance in addressing today’s complex requirements.
In present times, guidance and counselling is considered an important part of the educational process. The process of guidance and counselling is complex and psychological, which also affects the country, time and circumstances. This process is not so simple. The student cannot learn everything as soon as the teacher teaches. There is no double that any person can become a teacher, but it is baseless to say that every teacher can do the work of guidance well. Guidance and counselling are closely related. These are complementary rather than opposite of each other.
Trained guides and experienced counsellors are required in schools to play this indispensable role. With this view, the University of Haryana has also made the desired changes in the B.Ed. syllabus. The book presented is about ‘Guidance and Counselling’. This book is written according to the new B.Ed. the curriculum of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra under Course II and is given the name of Optional Subject-IV.
In this book, the syllabus is divided into two units. Each point of each unit is clearly stated. Simultaneously, for the convenience of the students, according to the syllabus, the questions related to the exam have been given in the form of long and short-answer questions so that the students can choose their appropriate subject matter and provide a strong basis for their practice work.
