PREFACE

Special children have special needs. Learning culture-specific resource materials, are scarce. Parents, trainers, and physicians are all faced with a paucity of resource material for trainers.

This comprehensive module cuts across the needs of parents/ trainers in providing simple tips drawn from activities of daily living to stimulate development and self-help skills. It emphasizes the pivotal role of the mother, as the primary caretaker and empowers her to carve her child’s path towards progress. To cater to all classes of society this module is available both in English and Hindi.

The initiative of the voluntary sector to bridge the gap between professionals, parents and multiple non-government bodies necessitates a basic standard of information, knowledge and skills to impart appropriate training to the needy. Hence the module would be useful to them too.
