PREFACE
The development of democratic country depends on the status and performance of teachers. A large number of teacher training institutions have been set-up after independence in our country, but these institutions could not prepare effective teachers because the emphasis is given on theory courses as psychology of learning which do not help in preparing teachers. Teachers must know the teaching theories, training technology, classroom management, teaching operations teaching skills and competencies of teaching.
In the discipline of education, emphasis has been laid down especially in the last two decades on the quality of teacher-education, excellence of teaching and quality of educational research. The National Education Policy (1986) and the programme of action brought out by the government of India has given the need impetus to promote the scheme of teacher training in pedagogical skills, foundations of education, development and evaluation techniques. The Government of India has realized the problems for the quality of teacher-education. The national council of teacher-education (NCTE) was formed in 1995 to look after the status of teachers and to maintain the quality of teacher education programmes of the whole country.
The concept and programmes of Teacher Training Technology, as provided in this book, indicate the broad field of training process and focuses on instructional procedure, teaching strategies, techniques, approaches of teaching and evaluation techniques. The content of the book has been presented into five parts.
First Part – Teacher Training Technology deals the basic concepts need, development, curriculum models problems of teacher training and National model of B.Ed. Programme.
Second Part – Techniques of Teacher Training’ provides the main components, methods, techniques, process of student teaching, in-service teacher training and supporting devices for preparing teachers.
Third Part – Approaches of Teacher Training includes teaching skills, micro teaching, designs of instruction, teacher behaviour, interaction analysis of teaching, competency based teacher training, individualized teaching and remedial teaching.
