About the Book

This book was written with a commitment to educate Special Education Teachers, Trainee Teachers of Special Education and Parents associated with the Education of Children with Special Needs. Its intention is to realize the mission of equitable and inclusive education: learning for all in the regular schools. So. the overriding concern in Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education” is to present material clearly in simple language so that trainee teachers can read it on their own to acquire knowledge. This text is designed to provide a comprehensive outlook on Special and Inclusive Education, in order to enhance and strengthen the role of educating children with exceptional in various educational programs. It is useful for teacher recruitment for the posts of school assistants in special education, under IEDSS. It is also useful for Special TRT, TET, DSC, IEDSS, SSA, KVS, SET/NET and other competitive examinations throughout the country. This book would enlighten all people who are interested in working for children with special needs, and also helpful to the resource -9 teachers who are working in Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

About the Authors

Dr. Premananda Mishra, is presently working as a Lecturer, at National Institute of the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD), under Department of Disability Affairs, Govt. of India, Bhubaneswar, has teaching experience of more than 25 years. He has published several articles in various journals and has participated in several National & International seminars & workshops. He has contributed to a few modules to NCERT on Inclusive Education. He is at present Members of Board of Studies in the Dept. of Special Education in Utkal University and Berhempur University of Odisha.

Dr. Srinivas Reddy Kadukuntla is working as a Lecturer in Special Education at National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD-TCTVL, Secunderabad), under Department of Disability Affairs, Govt. of India. He has 23 years of experience in serving persons with Visual Impairment. He has presented a number of papers in national seminars and conferences. He has published research articles in various journals. He has participated in many seminars, workshops, conferences related to Special Education at National and State Level like Samagra Shiksha. About the Editor

Dr. Amitav Mishra is a Senior Professor of Special & Inclusive Education at Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. His main areas of research interest are: inclusive education, adaptive physical education, early intervention, health care and intervention for adults with intellectual disability. He has published over 70 research publications. He serves as Advisory Member to Asia Pacific Forum on Research in Intellectual Disability, Singapore. He is the Associate Editor to Oxford University Press Research Encyclopaedia of Education (Inclusive and Special Education), New York and Editor of the Journal of National Convention of Educators of the Deaf and serves as a member of editorial board and review committee of several journals. He is the leading expert member of various committees appointed by RCI, NCTE, NIEPMD, and NIOS. He has been honoured with several awards by various National & International Organisations.
