Preface
The Psychology of Learning is a theoretical and practical science. Learning is a process that depends on experiences that lead to long-term changes in behavioural potential. The main assumption behind all learning psychology is that the effects of the environment, reinforcement, conditioning etc. provide psychologists with the best information from which to understand human behaviour. According to Charles E. Skinner, “Educational psychology deals with the behaviour of human beings in educational situations.” Thus educational psychology is a behavioural science with two main references: “human behaviour and education”. E. A. Peel says “Educational psychology is the science of education; it helps the teacher to understand the development of his pupil, range and limits of their capacities, the processes by which they learn their social responsibilities.”
This book, Psychological Perspectives of Education (Elementary Level) is based upon the new curriculum prescribed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training New Delhi for the trainees of Diploma in Elementary Education. All the efforts have been made to make content relevant, precise, sufficient and orderly mannered. The language used is easy, simple and understandable. The units contain relevant content with proper headings and sub-headings along with concerning figures and Educational implications of the topics. This book is also helpful for C.T.E.T. preparation, B.Ed., B.T.C. and D.El.Ed. trainees of various Universities, DIETS and SCERT/State Institute of Education of different states.
