About the Book

Psychological Foundations of Education deals with the art and science of teaching and learning. Study of Psychological Foundations of Education could be more meaningful by introspecting oneself. Teacher’s knowledge of the development of the learner, mental operations, feelings, emotions, aptitudes, attitudes and ways of learning and transferring and remembering equip him/her to be effective in communicating the subject matter. The knowledge of individual differences makes him/her open, sensitive, alert and tolerant to the special children besides, gifted or handicapped to provide for their optimum development academically, mentally and physically. In the global scenario, amidst the erosion of values, culture shocks and flood of information, the quality of life is on the decline. Quality life does not mean having rich material possessions but leading a healthy and happy life. This short course of Psychological Foundations of Education is a foundation for the prospective teachers to have relevant and responsible interventions with the learners. If each learner has holistic development in his/her own area of interest and capacity, it may create a society of equals, not at physical level but at psychological & human level.

About the Authors

Dr. G Aruna Mohan is an outstanding teacher-educator with nearly 3 decades of experience in educating teacher-trainees, both at B.Ed. and M.Ed. level is a specialist in Educational Psychology and Mental Hygiene. A keen follower of the eminent thinker and philosopher, Jiddu Krishnamurti, she has authored several books on the famous philosopher.

Dr. Repudi Vijayalatha, is currently working as Associate Professor, Department of Education, The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad; holds a doctorate degree in education besides post-graduation degree in education, psychology and microbiology. Her area of interests are educational psychology, curriculum development, inclusive education, women studies and philosophy. She has published articles in national and international journals and participated in workshops, seminars and conferences both at national and international level.

About the Editor

Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Saxena currently working as Professor, Head & Dean (Education) & also Campus Director of Dhauladhaar Campus-I and Additional Director, IQAC of Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), Dharmashala (HP). He has a rich experience of 25 years in teaching and educational administration. He has worked as Chairman, Member Coordinator and Member of NAAC Peer Team, Member Visiting Team of NCTE and also Member of UGC Expert Committee. He is a Member of Academic Council of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri (J & K). He has written several books on education & published articles in National & International Journals & Seminars.
