Preface

The subject matter of this book covers the syllabus as prescribed by different universities in India. The pedagogy of biological sciences has come to occupy an important place in the curriculum, especially the two-year B.Ed. curriculum as prescribed by the UGC syllabus.

The following points have been kept in view while writing this book:

1. All relevant parts and sub-parts of the syllabus have been covered in the book. Attention has been paid to see that no part or sub-part is left out.

2. The recommendations of different important Commissions have been appended verbatim.

3. Each chapter appends exercise including questions of different genres so that students find it relevant and easy to know what can be asked in the coming examinations.

4. The related long-answer type questions, short-answer type questions, very short-answer type questions, true/false statements, fill-in-the-blanks and multiple choice questions have been provided at the end of each lesson.

I would like to thank all those who have contributed to bringing the book to its present shape; especially the efforts of Mr. A. K. Gandhi have been praiseworthy.

The author shall welcome any suggestions for making the book even more useful, and they will be incorporated in the next editions.
