It gives me great pleasure to bring the fourth revised and enlarged edition of the text “Teaching of
Mathematics.” I am indebted to a large number of its readers across the country for providing a warm welcome to the previous editions of this work. The present edition is intended to incorporate the recent changes introduced in the syllabi of B.Ed. class of the Universities and Teacher Education Institutions throughout the country as per guidelines framed by the NCTE, for two years B.Ed. Program.
In the present edition thus attempts have been made to keep in mind the syllabus developed by the different universities and Teacher Training Institutions for their two years B.Ed. Programs. As a result, there has been a lot of modification and expansion in the text in terms of its contents and coverage of the topics including, a change in the nomenclature of the text from “Teaching of Mathematics’ to ‘Pedagogy of Mathematics.
In its present modified and expanded form the subject matter related to 41 chapters of this text has been compactly organized into five different sections. Now with its wide coverage and clear perception, the text is adequately capable of providing essential knowledge, skills, attitude and interest for the teachers of mathematics at their pre-service or in-service stages needed for their professional preparation as well as development.
The author expresses a sense of great gratitude to the writings and views of the scholars whose work has been utilized in the preparation of this text.
