Preface

We have titled this book ‘Pedagogy of Biological Sciences’. This book is meant for aspiring student teachers, who are picking up threads of teaching skills. Keeping such learners in mind the book provides a comprehensive account of what a teacher of Biological Science in the making needs to know.

The responsibility for effective teaching and learning of any subject lies on the shoulders of the teachers. The growing knowledge economy has brought a profound change in the process of education and the methods of teaching and learning. ICT and E-learning have transformed the world and this process of transformation is continuing at a very fast pace.

As per NCTE two year B.Ed curriculum framework, all the chapters have been thoroughly and comprehensively discussed. An effort has been made to keep the description brief, simple, and precise.

The book follows the syllabus prescribed by Osmania University to the minutest detail. If you go through the content page, the title of each unit corresponds with the title of the unit given in the syllabus and further divisions of the unit are also commensurate with the division of the units in the prescribed syllabus. The book is learner friendly and the authors have taken care to put forth the concepts in as simple a manner as possible, to make it learner-friendly.

The content of this book goes a long way in providing teacher training with reasonably adequate theoretical and thoroughly plausible pedagogical guidelines for professional growth.

It is confidently hoped that the book would serve as a complete textbook for teacher educators throughout the country. Sincere attempts have been made to see that the book is well-organized, error- free and user-friendly. However, suggestions for any improvement and modification in the book are most welcome!
