Preface

The book “Pedagogy of Biological Sciences” is an effort to simplify the method and practice of teaching Biological Science with the current scenario of constructivism in the field of teaching. We made an initiative to develop the concept of Teaching Biological Science in simplified manner to bring an overall view of the syllabus based on NCTE two year B.Ed. curriculum

The book covers a range of topics starting with meaning, nature, structure, branches, history and aims & values of biological science along with competencies of biology teacher. It includes revised Bloom’s Taxonomy along with necessary Academic Standards prescribed by SCERT.

The book further elucidates the various methods and techniques of teaching like microteaching, Lecture Method, Heuristic Method, Project Methods and Approaches like Inductive and Deductive Approaches along with the various plans which include Year Plan, Unit Plan, Period Plan (Herbertian, Constructivist Approach and CCE Model). It also encompasses Learning Experiences and Planning ICT Applications in Learning Biology.
