Preface

Information & Communication Technology (ICT) in Education is creating rippling effect on the society, system of education, pedagogy and all other related fields of education.

Today ICT created a revolution in all walks of life including teaching-learning process. This change is very astonishing since the last two decades in India and at global level, in the work culture and the attitude of students and teachers.

It is really unbelievable to see most of the children, especially youth handling the whole of technological applications into their life style. Research proved that people are becoming restless and helpless without a mobile phone. Such is the impact of technology. A large section of people feel life is meaningless without these gadgets. The day begins with ICT and ends with ICT, which has lead to the result of bringing in new vistas in the field of education, acquiring appropriate skills, facilities and creating a positive attitude towards ICT, it would really bring about a revolutionary change and make this a wonder world.

If the present e-learning, virtual classroom, teleconferencing and video conferencing be tapped appropriately, the world resources and the best teaching, best knowledge, best resources will be available at the fingertips of all our learners and teachers. They get a wonderful, easy, high quality of education without much difficulty.

Teaching learning process is going with face to face and ICT needs to be imbibed into the adult generation’s attitudes & create, 21 century skills amongst learners. As a great futurologist Alvin Toffler said that an “illiterate of the 21″ century will not be the one who cannot read and write but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn”.

The present book intends to extend a helping hand and give directions for learners i.e. budding teachers to gain insights into ICT. This is going to be an absolute reality in the mere future. It helps to learn, use and internalize the ICT skills into their life and teaching-learning process ICT, then would be utilized as a pedagogical tool in every day’s curriculum transactions.

Authors kept in mind the prescribed course of ICT in Education, (10 units) of B.Ed. curriculum while organizing the material to acquaint student teachers and also teachers to utilize this material as a reference and build their teaching by exploring further from time to time with updated concepts and updates in each area.

We acknowledge all those authors whose books and research articles, were reviewed and utilized in writing and all those internet resources, websites, authors whose material helped us to extend the presentations of latest concepts & developments in technology presented in this text.

It is really a hard time to equip with the new developments in technology and also pedagogical aspects through technology. Authors still feel that it needs further fine tuning with the intellectuals ideas, student’s feedback and teacher’s constructive suggestions.
