PREFACE

This book is specially written for the B.Ed. class of Punjabi University, Patiala, according to the new syllabus introduced from 2014 onwards. It has two parts Human Rights and Value Education.

In the last quarter of the 20th century, the world especially India has witnessed a growing recognition of the place and relevance of Human Rights. These are the rights inherent to all human beings, irrespective of any discrimination. The preliminary Seven Articles of “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights” of UNO, gave us a clear vision of the intention and purpose of human rights.

Similarly, Value education is rooted in Indian philosophy and culture and ingrained in every tradition of Indian culture. It is only education that plays a significant role in the promotion of value. The knowledge of Human Rights and Values is essential for our future teachers so that they can be able to develop knowledge, attitudes and skills for creating peace in the minds of our youth.

In this book, the Author has tried his best to present the standard and latest subject matter required for the students, in a lucid style and simple language. The difficult and new concepts and issues are made simple and understandable to the students.
