PREFACE TO THE NEW EDITION

Hard to believe that a large population of India, next to China, would catch up with the developed countries in education and other sectors of development, but the recent economic reforms during (1990-2015) raised hope to attain national goals as accepted in five year plans-11%, 12% & 19th, Governments have taken significant initiatives in linking school education and higher education with new economies.

Youths, research scholars, university teachers and scientists need to be well conversant with the emerging concepts, theories and paradigms of economy. Their knowledge, capability, competency and skills would be our national economy. Teacher educators and teacher trainees have special responsibility to save the economy of the world nations.

The current edition of the book ‘Contemporary India and Education’ has been prepared keeping in view the syllabi of all the Universities of the State. In all, there are 32 chapters in this book and it covers the prescribed syllabus fully. The book has been written in easy, simple and understandable language.

The authors feel indebted to the Principals and Associate/Assistant Professors working in the College of Education who have always given due recognition to their books.
