Preface

The National Council of Teacher Education framed a new syllabus for learners and teacher educators from the academic year of 2017- 2018. The curriculum shall provide for sustained engagement with the Self, the Child, the Community and the School, at different levels, and through establishing close connections between different curricular areas. The very purpose of having psychological foundations to education is to develop desirable attitudes towards the psychology of learners at the different stages of life and to develop the subtle professional competencies in the prospective teachers to function rightly and responsibly. As per the syllabus the book has been designed, to make the learners comprehend the topics given in a lucid manner.

Theoretical concepts and the new topics are clearly included, along with sociological concepts with the help of research papers. This book deals with all the important facts and principles related to Learning. Growth and Development, understanding the learner’s socio-cultural concepts, Adolescence education, learning, learning theories and classroom implications of learning strategies.
