PREFACE

Understanding the children of the teachers has become obligatory in these days of advanced technology. In this age of information technology of the 21st century. knowledge regarding the emerging trends in the teaching-learning process has become very essential. So the knowledge of educational psychology is necessary for the teachers to be effective and successful in the classroom. The teachers’ training institutions are always endeavoring to mould  into an effective teacher. Hence the subject of educational psychology is being taught in all types of courses in the colleges of teachers training throughout our country. The information regarding this subject gives insight into the problems of chidhood period and develops necessary skills and competencies in the prospective teachers to understand the psycho-dynamics of child-teacher’s behaviour and handle classroom problems efficiently and intelligently.

The present book “Childhood and Growing Up” is specially written for the B.Ed. students of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. New Delhi. This book has been written in a very simple language and lucid way with illustrations.

The authors are grateful to the many sources from which the material for this book has been collected and the help sought while writing this book. They feel obliged to various experts and renowned persons whose work has been consulted and quoted in this book.
