About the Play and Learn- Early Childhood Education Kit
Welcome to the world of play!
All children love to play as play is natural to them. Children of different ages need different types of care and nurturing. Quality preschool programmes help children grow in all areas of development-intellectual, social, emotional, language, physical and motor domains. Preschool children between 3 to 6 years of age are active, busy learners who enjoy a wide variety of activities and love to explore toys and learning material. Working with preschoolers can be rewarding for teachers because they are self-directed, self-motivated, creative and love to play. In order to plan a play-based developmentally-appropriate curriculum that keeps preschool children learning and growing, teachers need to understand how 3 to 6-year-olds grow, think, feel, use language, understand feelings and relate to other people. During the preschool years, children develop new thinking skills and become competent at using language to communicate. These newly developed thinking and language skills enable preschoolers to begin solving complex problems, asking and answering questions, and using their imagination to create and act out stories. Teachers can support thinking and language development among preschoolers through conversations, emergent literacy, reading readiness activities, math readiness activities and early science activities, creative questions, and ample of opportunities for pretend play. Most of these activities need learning material to support children’s play. This preschool education manual Play and Learn-Early Childhood Education Kit provides 39 sample learning material for young children catering to different domains of child development. It suggests activities which you can plan and do with your children.
