Preface
The present “Pedagogy of Social Science Education” has been designed to equip the teacher educators (D.El.Ed), with as much knowledge of all aspects as the guidelines given in NPE-1986; NCF- 2005-11, and SCERT. To bring required reforms were introduced in elementary teacher education, it has developed curriculum for diploma in the teacher education for adoption by the entire district educational training centers. As per the requirements like the self-study and quality improvement the importance has given to the new trends in educational system.
The scope of the book has been made broad-based and comprehensive approach is practical and functional. Practical approach followed in dealing with topics as constructive approach, state the developed strategies, current trends in Social science teaching- learning processes are included in the 6 Units of this book. In the 1″ unit of this new curriculum the importance of social sciences in teaching learning process, their use are given as per the recommendations of – NCF, RTE, SCF-2011. Along with the scope of teaching of Social sciences history, geography, political science and economics are given importance. In unit 2 new topics tike time and continuity, political concepts like state, government, power and authority; economic concepts like markets and exchange are included. Understanding of the social sciences, methods of teaching; in 4th unit topics like teaching strategies, the use of teaching learning materialare given. In 5th unit Teaching-Assessment-Evaluation is included. In the last 6th unit Challenges in the teaching of social sciences the use of ICT in social sciences teaching and techniques of teaching are given.
We are expecting that this book is useful not only to the D.EL.ED students but the others who study this as a reference. For the student teachers also it may be easy to understand. The authors therefore hope that this book which is very informative on subject will be received by the trainee teachers.
