Preface

It gives me immense pleasure to present the first edition of the second part of this book ‘Knowledge and Curriculum: Perspectives in Education as per the latest syllabus prescribed by NCTE for a year’s B.Ed., course.

The National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education (NCFTE-2009) has elaborated three main areas which include Curriculum and Pedagogic Studies, Knowledge and Curriculum is part of this area. This book is an attempt to cover the important aspects of knowledge and curriculum and acquaint students with epistemological and social bases of education.

This book consists of four units divided into twenty-four chapters. The presentation of the subject matter is in a systematic, simple and rich style. All the topics of the syllabus prescribed by GGSIPU have been covered in this book. In order to make the book more useful, the latest information and current trends have been thoroughly analysed and discussed.
