Preface

Education is an important tool to calibrate society towards sustainable development and a knowledgeable community. The youth must be skilled, creative and research-oriented. Teachers and students must be equipped with the technological skills and must be made aware about the critical understanding of Information Communication Technology. ‘Critical Understanding of ICT” has been introduced in Bachelor of Education to empower the perspective teachers with the latest innovations in communication technology. The subject is practical-oriented.

The book ‘Comprehensive & Critical Understanding of ICT is written to facilitate the learning of pre-service teachers of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The book is divided into four units as per the syllabus. The language used in the book is simple. Illustrations have been included to clear the concepts. Concept maps are used to enhance comprehension and to provide better understanding. Activities, software and different apps are included in the book to assist the hands-on experience and to serve as a document to bridge the gap between the traditional and contemporary approaches to teaching in the format of a modular textbook on ICT related to various issues, concerns, modern trends and strategies. I hope that this volume will be useful for in-service teachers, pre-service teachers and teacher educators. I have left no stone unturned to make this work worth to help teachers and teacher educators and enhance their teaching-learning acumen, skill and capabilities to achieve excellence in their work.

Suggestions are cordially invited to be incorporated in the next edition.
